Hi Flower friends and welcome back to another edition of Monday Musings. It was a fun and full weekend socially, but also a productive and relaxing one. This was the first time it has really felt like Spring for me, with the sun shining and the weekend temps above 10 degrees celsius. It's amazing what a bit of nice weather can do for your mood and overall wellbeing. I got lots of Spring things planted out like ranunculus, canterbury bells and a whole whack load of lisianthus. With all of the time I spent outside, I also took the opportunity to check on all of the perennials and Spring blooming crops.
Tulips are easily the largest crop of flowers that I grow, having planted over 4000 bulbs last fall. Though everything is about 2 weeks late, most are coming in nicely and without any fuss.
Unfortunately though, there are some beds where there is little to no activity or some very spotty activity. There appears to be a rodent that likes to dig that we are dealing with. Unfortunately I haven't caught the bugger in the act, so I don't know what it is or how and where it is getting into the beds. If I had to guess it is likely a chipmunk and one that is quite aggressive and active. Only time will tell how many tulips will be lost, but I am hopeful that more will continue to pop up this week with the warmer weather and consistent waterings.
