Please Don't Hold Me Back

Please Don't Hold Me Back

It's Monday evening and time for another edition of #mondaymusings.  I'm watching the NCAA mens' basketball championship, while writing this and wearing a heating pad on my back.
I'm going to keep this one short and sweet because my back is sore and I'd like to finish my exercises and then lie down lol.
Earlier this year I shared about my back pain journey and how I had a new strength plan, which would be amazing, if I was following it every day.  Unfortunately I've only been averaging about 2-3 times per week, which is not good enough.
In order for me to be pain free and really going about a normal daily life without limitations, I need to be doing them every day.  And then once I can get my strength back in my back and core, then I can work on just maintaining it and 2-3 times per week could be just fine.
It's not a huge commitment either - just 20-30 minutes of exercises and I can basically cure my own back pain.
It's difficult for me to even know how to fire the right muscles so that I can engage my core when I bend down - that's how bad it's gotten.  Having said that, it is also amazing how quickly my body can remember and re-gain strength when I do do the exercises consistently.
It's funny, but also silly how I have such a difficult time committing to my own health and wellness.  If it is for someone else or for the dog - no problem.  lol for example, on weekdays mornings, Maverick and I going for a long walk somewhere between 5-6km.  It takes us about an hour and it is so good for him and he has become such a good walker.  When he is well exercised, he is so much better behaved.  Having said that, I  would be remiss if I didn't mention, how helpful it is for my mental (and physical) health.  It is so nice to get fresh air and just get my body moving.
So now I just have to build on the momentum of my walks and re-commit to doing my back exercises every day.  It's only going to help me throughout the season and make me a strong and not to mention happier person!  it's a win win!
So, having said that, I'm off to do some squats, my last exercises to finish them off for the day.  Moving forward, I'm going to start doing my exercises in the morning to physically set myself up in the best way possible!
Thanks for reading and have a strong week ahead!
